WHAT IS STRESS?

At least twenty percent of adults have been diagnosed with depression. Many of our children have ADD, ADHD, and are on some form of medication. others are dealing with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). WHY? We call it STRESS!

What is stress? We all have our own definition of stress and how it affects us. Most feel we have no control over it; it just happens to us, and sometimes, it always happens to us. However, most researchers on the subject, say it is the result of inappropriate responses to the stress. Each individual reacts to the same event differently, determined by one’s internal patterns.

We humans often deal with buildups of stress with extreme emotional buildup, which is sometimes unleashed as storms of rage, but often stuffed deep inside us by fear, then becomes our constant companion, anxiety. Physically, this can be expressed as muscle tension, hypertension, hyper-reactivity and many more ‘illnesses’. Some of the subtle effects of chronic unresolved stress are poor circulation, chronic fatigue, depression, low back and neck pain, and slow healing.

Pressure on the immune system has often been labeled as “stress”. There is a definite connection between stress factors and illness, and it centers on the immune system. We know from many studies that there is a dcrease in immune system activity in the presence of various types of stress.

Chronic stress can take a toll on our bodies, depleting the vital energy reserves needed to keep illness at bay. If thoughts and emotions become imbalanced because of chronic emotional stress, a constricted flow of life energy (chi) through one or more bodily functions can result. Small or large events that involve negative feelings tend to deform the energy flow of the body.

“Although stress itself is not a disease, it can aggravate numerous conditions, including allergies, arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, emphysema, gastritis, hypertension, hyperglycemia, neuromuscular syndromes, speech problems and ulcers.” --Konrad Karl, N.D.

We often don’t process spiritual, physical, emotional and mental trauma correctly, sometimes because we don’t take the time, sometimes because we don’t have the right tools, sometimes because we just aren’t ready until a later point. But, the enrgetic effects of these traumas remain within us, not in a passive state, but alive, robbing our sense of wholeness and, ultimately, our wellness.

Through the use of several holistic modalities the physical, emotional and energetic symptoms are addressed and treated.
