Is this just an old ritual with no science behind it?
Or… can we actually change the structure of water through our thoughts?
Dr. Masaru Emoto, the Japanese scientist revolutionized the idea that our thoughts and intentions impact the molecular structure of water. For over 20 years, until he passed away in 2014, he studied the scientific evidence of how the molecular structure of water transforms when it is exposed to human words, thoughts, sounds and intentions.
It was 1994 when the idea to freeze water and observe it with a microscope came to him. With this method, he was convinced that he would be able to see something resembling snow crystals.
Through the 1990’s, Dr. Masaru Emoto performed a series of experiments observing the physical effect of words, prayers, music and the environment on the crystalline structure of water. Emoto hired photographers to take pictures of water crystals after being exposed to the different variables. The results were nothing short of remarkable!
He tested his belief that water could react to positive thoughts and words, and that polluted water could be cleansed through prayer and positive visualization.
As part of his experiments, he observed beautiful crystals after saying positive words, playing classical music, or offering prayer to water. On the other hand, he observed disfigured crystals when his thoughts were negative.
He and his researchers also observed crystals of tap water, river water, and lake water. From tap water they were not able to observe any beautiful crystals. Neither did they observe any beautiful ones from rivers and lakes near big cities. However, water from rivers and lakes that were pristine from development exhibited beautiful crystals with each one having its own uniqueness.
The extraordinary work of Dr. Emoto is documented in his book, The Hidden Messages in Water. Dr. Emoto shows how water exposed to loving, benevolent, and compassionate human intention, results in aesthetically pleasing physical molecular formations. Water exposed to fearful and discordant human intentions resulted in disconnected, disfigured, and “unpleasant” physical molecular formations.
Dr. Emoto also studied how sound affects water. His studies demonstrated that certain types of sound, like classical music, created beautiful crystalline patterns, while heavy metal music, generated ugly and distorted crystalline formations. The contrast between the crystalline formation resulting from water exposed to Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and the water crystal formation after playing heavy metal music is dramatic.
His work raises the question: If water is affected by words, music, intentions, and energies, what about human beings, who are mostly made of water?
Imagine throughout your day how your body may react to the soothing sounds of Mozart or Bach. By the same token, imagine how your body may be reacting to loud, noisy, or aggressive music that showed distorted water crystal formations.
This shows that music can affect the immune system, by affecting the structure of water within the body in a positive or negative way. This can explain the importance of positive re-enforcement to the healing process.
Emoto's Experiment
In the film, at the end of the thirty days, we see that the beaker with the rice and water Dr. Emoto thanked every day, is fermenting nicely and appears to have no mold or rotting material. The second beaker, which Emoto assaulted verbally every day, is covered with black mold. The third beaker, which he ignored for thirty days, appears to have even more black crud in it. In fact, Emoto tells us the rice has actually rotted.
From this we can conclude that gratitude and loving intentions affect even the most benign of substances–pure water and simple rice grains–in a positive way. Conversely, bullying and indifference create conditions that encourage mold and rot.
We experience between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts a day.
70 % of the human body is water.
Consider… how many of those thoughts are uplifting and positive, and how many of those thoughts are…something else??
Emoto’s work suggests: If we can transform water with thoughts and other positive affirmations, what else is possible?
“My hope in sharing this message from water is to touch your heart so that you experience peace and healing through love and gratitude…”
Masura Emoto, Messages from Water and the Universe.
Thanksgiving is a time of year when we are especially aware of gratitude and love. Take this time to consider our thoughts and be conscious of how they are affecting us, our loved ones, and the world!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
And yes, listening to Mozart is good for your health!
